Characters continue mobile move

Friday, September 29th, 2006

This week, Disney announced further penetration of the cell phone market with a deal to gets its characters distributed through Jamster - one of the largest cell content providers. Click here to see story.  Mojizu is now putting the final touches on our Mobile Portal, MojiMobile - which is planned for beta launch in mid-October.  We are really excited as it will be one of the best content sites for cell phone art ANYWHERE!  As with all commercial ventures tied to Mojizu - artists will be receiving a 50% split on the profits generated by their characters.   The idea is that any Moji on the site can be purchased and immediately uploaded to a cell phone.  We are also going to have a stand-alone site that we will be marketing to a mass market.

Mojizu has recently partnered with premium ad agency, Federated Media, and will soon be able to show you much more relevant advertising from people you actually want to hear from. In turn, we will be able to use funds derived from site advertising to support the site and improve the community for all. They have asked us to have you complete a short survey here.

Moji Tee Shirt Design Contest

The submission process is now complete for September’s MojiTee Design Contest and the polls are open! All qualifying shirt designs can be seen and voted on here. Vote now to determine the winner and give them a chance to gain fame and fortune! Added this month: the winner also recieved free Adobe software.

Designs so far have been great! Keep it up! One thing - be careful to follow the submission requirements. We had several designs submitted this month that exceeded the color limit. We also had a few which failed to expand at all upon their original moji. Dont forget - this is for a tee shirt, so be creative and unleash the fashion designer in you!

WE WANT YOUR DOLLS!

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

As part of our ongoing plan to help our members monetize their artwork, we are pleased to announce the coming creation of the MojiToy store.

The MojiToy Store will be an area of our online shop, where we promote and showcase limited edition plush, vinyl and other dolls and toys which are character based. We intend to market the Toy store both on the site as well as external to the site (i.e. through search and other methods)

Our intention is to stock the MojiToy shop with limited edition items from our member base on a consignment basis.

Participating artists would be asked to provide us with at least one of each of the items they want to sell in the shop. We would photograph and display the item in the ToyShop and offer it for sale. The artist will set the selling price, and Mojizu would keep 30% of the selling price and send the balance to the artist after each sale.

You would also indicate to us the amount of inventory you have available for the item, and we would continue selling the item until your stock is depleted.

We will provide the artist with a consignment agreement for all items that are provide to us, and the artist will have the right to retrieve their inventory at any time after 90 days if it remains unsold. The consignment inventory will be securely stored in our office in Irvine, California

We anticipate offering these items on an international base to our growing audience of character fans.

If you have developed any of your characters into plush and other dolls and are interested in listing them in our new MojiToy shop, please provide us the following:
• List of items that you would like to make available with photo if possible– all items must be character based
• Desired selling price for each item
• Number of pieces available for sale for each item
If you are interested and after receipt of your item information, we will send you a draft of the consignment agreement, and provide further details on where to send the consignment inventory.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding the new MojiToy Shop – and we look forward to your participation.

Mojizu in the Press!

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

If you haven’t yet, pick up the latest issue of Computer Arts magazine to hit the newstands (Issue 125). Featured on page 20 in a piece that trashes on MySpace’s overly legalist, rights asserting terms of use, Mojizu is used as an example of a site that is doing the right thing. We are applauded for being a site that wants “to work together with artists to commercialise their work, not hijack their rights.” and are very proud of that fact. We look forward to continuing our efforts alongside you to help Mojizu and all of its members reach their full potential.

Thanks for your support. Please continue to provide your thoughts and suggestions.

Sincerely,

Team Mojizu

MojiStore status and artist’s profit share

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

More exciting stuff - within the next few weeks will be officially opening the doors to the MojiStore. We will be selecting special popular Mojis that we will produce in limited edition quantities on high end items in many colors. These will receive special promotion in the store.
In addition, any Moji you upload will immediately be available for sale on T-shirts, mouse pads and mugs. People will be able to see this merchandise by clicking on the store icon within the Moji Viewer.
In addition, unlike other sites you may be familiar with, our approach is to split profits evenly between Mojizu and you the artist. The percentage that you receive will differ by item based on our production costs, but we are confident your share will be healthier than on other sites. Your earnings are displayed in the “My Earnings” tab of the “My Account” section. You will also be able to run reports that tell detailed stats on the number of sales and your profit for all of your Moji items. You will be able to request payouts from this section.
One more reason to get your Mojis loaded – early and often.
